(Tokyo, Japan Thursday 8th March 2018)
Behind every great product and company is a visionary leader. With an abundance of job fairs and networking events, it is rare to have the chance for engineers exploring jobs in Japan to speak directly with the CEO of companies. Active Connector hosted a unique networking event for young professionals and international students to learn about a company directly from the CEO of Japan’s leading Intelligent Industrial Robotics Company. This session provided direct insight into the company’s founding mission, expertise in robotics and the driving vision behind building a global workforce.
The strength of this company’s market share is currently +60% in Japan’s domestic market for 3D vision sensors for industrial robots. Given its core focus on innovation, the company has recently begun developing vision-based intelligent robots that integrate vision, motion planning, and smart manipulators and end-effectors. With +1billion JPY in capital, investors include the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (an investment fund sponsored by the Japanese government), the Mirai Creation Investment LP (funded by Toyota Motors Corporation and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation), Toyota Tsusho Corporation, and Omron Ventures. They are currently working towards an IPO in 2020.
Attendees included professionals and students from Rwanda, Portugal, Mozambique, UK, Egypt etc. with a wide range of backgrounds including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer vision, mathematics and other STEM subjects. The CEO’s talk and Q&A were followed by a networking session over light refreshments and pizza.
Active Connector’s hosts’ regular events with student associations and academic institutions to help international students and professionals explore meaningful job opportunities in Japan. Events and career fairs to support international students with job-hunting in Japan organised in the past have included collaborations across the country with students in Hokkaido, Nagoya, Niigata and Tokyo.
