Reporter for Japanese local communities: Local Revitalization project

This NPO was established in 1999 and has been working as Social Consultant to solve various social issues in the community. They have been particularly focused for the theme of environment and food, local revitalization and disaster risk reduction. They organize various international projects as well as collaboration projects with local governments and private sectors (particularly CSR divisions). Their successful cases are education projects, community workshops and summer camps for high school and elementary school students to teach about environment.

Now NPO is going to start its new project with the aim of revitalizing Japanese local areas. Although there are many foreign tourists coming to travel Japan, their destinations tend to be already popular touristic areas and not all the local country sides of Japan are not benefitting from this influx of foreign tourists.

The NPO is now trying to launch new web media which will try to feature very beautiful and cultural local areas of Japan which are not yet popular. They will try to share authentic beautify of those areas through web media and later with the connections they have with local government and local NPOs, they will be launching various new projects to solve community issues.

Job Description

■Job Description ・You will be involved in new project development which focuses on local revlitalization ・You will go visit local areas (once a month or once in two months, but this frequency depends on your writing/reporting ability) and interview people, write the articles in English ・You will be visitng traditional temples, hotels, and be involved in activities (festivales) in the local cities. ・Sometimes you will be translating the articles written by other Japanese colleauges   ■Requirements: ・Can begin working at the beginning of this February, 2016 ・Experience of editing articles and interviewing. ・Translation skills (Japanese to English) ・English:Native level ・Japanese level to conduct the interview with Japanese people, translate from Japanese to English.   ■Best fit for those who ・Who love to travel many different places of Japan ・Who love Local Revitalization ・Love to work in the team   ■Conditions: Salary: Based on your experience and skill set (1,200 JPY per hour or above) Work Hours: 3〜4 times a week (negotiable)  9:30〜18:30 (negotiable)   *Please note that the position is only applicable for those who are currently residing in Japan only*
